Münchner Malerei von Anno dazumal
(“Munich Painting of yesteryear”)
June 3 – June 29, 1949
„For those who want to get out of the problems of today's painting and sculpture and back into the atmosphere of a more comfortable time, a visit to the Munich Kunstverein (H. von Zügel-House, Possardstr. 24) is recommended, where they can take a walk through the ‘Munich painting of yesteryear’ in a charming little exhibition. The connoisseur of Munich painting of the 19th century is delighted to encounter, among other things, some little works in which the old master Lindenschmidt was great, or W. von Dietz and Adolf Lier, or a tiny Spitzweg, or the Frauenchiemseer Raupp and Wopfner, Morgenstern (Christian) and Schleich (Eduard), or very early Sambergers and an earliest Corinth, both of which fit well here, because spiritually they are still before Impressionism, like everything that can be seen here.“
