Weihnachtsausstellung der Mitglieder

(“Members' Christmas Exhibition”)

November 27, 1949 - January 09, 1950

“The homely rooms of the ‘Münchner Kunstverein’ in the Heinrich-von-Zügel-Villa, Possartstr. 24, give also this time well selected works of Munich painters a not to be underestimated atmosphere of comfortable warmth. How does a ‘dance scene’ by Lichtenberger fit with other pictures of his masterly known kind to the wall of the music room, and for the delicious humor of the painting of Oskar Cösters the tranquility of the room provides a delightful leisure. Durneder's atmospheric ‘Interior’, Garneff's sculptural female semi-nude, a floral piece by Protzen, Sailer's ‘Bouquiniste’ and not to forget the austere grace of a clay sculpture by Karl Röhrig, they win in this homely environment.
However, the too many pictures and lithos by Tröndle seem slightly tiring in their uniform form and posture.
By a young Hess pupil, Inge Ungewitter, samples of her talent shown for the first time, raise hopes.
Among the works of the younger painters, who (like the early deceased Epple generous ‘Chiemsee Landscape’, Lamprecht's ’Fernsicht auf Freising’, Renner's expressive portrait) owe their remarkable ability to the outstanding educational power of their master and teacher Karl Caspar, Remigius Netzer must be especially mentioned. For his ‚Fish’ (cold strong colors on a warm colored ground) is, simply and clearly seen and also so designed, a picture. - This favorable impression is reinforced and still complemented by the simultaneous exhibition of his woodcuts (materially and skilful black-and-white and multi-color prints) in the art cabinet Max Götz.”
