Dîlan Z. Çapan
October – December 2025
Dîlan Z. Çapan is an author and director whose work focuses in particular on the limits of language and the power and violence inherent in language and historiography. Her literary and artistic practice operates between scenic-essayistic poetry and drama, and their realization in theatrical and exhibition spaces, as well as in filmic and performative formats. Music, rhythm, and the musicality of language and image sequences serve as central and connecting elements in her interdisciplinary approach. Her poetry lecture performance dialoge der sprachlosigkeit (premiere: September 2024, Staatsschauspiel Hannover) exemplifies this mode of working. In addition to this, Dîlan Z. Çapan also directs traditional theatre productions, as well as music videos and short films. In 2019, she was a fellow at the Theatertreffen Berlin, and in 2022/23 she participated in the Drama Forum fellowship program of uniT Graz. She studied philosophy and theatre studies at Freie Universität Berlin, as well as fashion design at the Faculty of Design and Media at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She lives and works in Berlin.
